TCT interview:

Question 1

Martin: What have been your most interesting insights within the Teacher Certification Training?

Marita: For me, it is the understanding that the Synchronicity Holistic Model of Reality, which I’ve experienced and enjoyed for so many years, is really based on a very ancient and authentic tradition from the East. Further, that Master Charles has updated these ancient traditions and practices into a modern context and made them relevant to the world of today. So, we have a Contemporary Spirituality and Holistic Lifestyle Model with which to deal with life and to stay balanced. For me, it was a wonderful perspective because I also know about some of the other ancient traditions, and this week, I have seen them all come together at different times, and that’s been very good for me.

Mureen: The most interesting aspect from my personal point of view was that the more I learned about the holistic model, the more I understood that it was the truth of myself that was really being discovered. Wholeness is the real truth of who I am, and everyday I felt myself growing more, evolving more, and feeling more empowered within myself. Question 2

Martin: In what ways did the training meet or exceed your original expectations?

Mureen: Originally, I thought it would be very challenging for me because I've never thought of myself as being a teacher, but as the days went on and, I grew and grew and it never seemed difficult at all. In fact, I really enjoyed the whole week.

Marita: I started out wanting to do this training to tighten up my own meditative practice. It was a very selfish motive in a sense – just for me to start taking my own practice more seriously and moving it to another level. I envisioned myself sitting in the back of the room, taking notes, and just hiding there.

But, to my surprise, it wasn’t like that at all. It was very participatory, and we had a chance, as Mureen said, to look at our own experience in light of this amazing model, which can be as specific as what happens in an afternoon and as universal as what’s happened in your whole life.

So, it’s been very rich and interactive from a personal perspective and that was fun. I also found that my own biography became part of it. I found myself remembering aspects of my life in light of the involutionary and evolutionary cycles of the Creation Game and I recognized things I had just never considered before.

Question 3

Martin: How has this week of in-depth training affected your understanding of what the Synchronicity Experience is all about?

Marita: I have come to the Sanctuary on retreats to refresh and renew myself many times over many years, and also to develop skills in this art of meditation which helps balance my life, so that I can be more productive and fulfilled. This training put it into a much more holistic context.

To be honest, I heard the language and at first, I resisted it almost as if it were another model that I really didn’t want to deal with. From my background in psychology, I already had many models in my awareness. I have read and heard about the Synchronicity Holistic Lifestyle Model – but this week, I really understood the mechanics of what happens when you sit to meditate, which is not always love, light, and delight by any means. Further, it gives a precise understanding and context for everything that happens during meditation so that you don’t have to doubt or worry about whether you are meditating correctly. Question 4

Martin: What difference do you think your colleagues, friends, or family will notice in you when you return home?

Marita: I remember once (upon returning from a Synchronicity Retreat), when a person said to me, “what happened…. did you fall in love?” I said, “Oh, something like that.” Perhaps it’s hard for me to pinpoint, but I think there’s a sense of wellness that I always have when I come back into the world from the Sanctuary that sustains me…. a sense of well-being that others notice.

Mureen: I think they’ll notice a big difference…. they always do. Often, my husband becomes a bit unsettled, and sometimes he even has to leave the house for a while to take a break from my more expanded energy. This time, I think they’ll notice that there is more self-empowerment, “presence”, and more confidence, too. I am definitely more balanced.

Question 5

Martin: One final question - what are your teaching plans after you’ve graduated?

Mureen: My plans are to start with my family. My son will say, “Let’s humor Mom…. and she can try it out on us”, so I’ll start there. Then, I thought I'd put some advertising out in the local community. I know that the local newspaper is always interested in publishing stories of someone coming back to Australia from the United States after having accomplished something. Based upon that, I can do some public presentations and then just see what happens from there.

Marita: I can’t say that I’ve arrived at a specific plan just yet. I’m at the place of saying that it might really benefit my own practice to teach others and it might be just the right time to do this. So, at the moment, I don’t have a definite plan - but I’m open to whatever seems to fit with who I am.

Martin – This concludes our interview for today. I wanted to thank you, Mureen and Marita, for sharing your experience - and I wish you much success with your teaching….
